Last night, after not playing together for about 18 months, The Basement Band took the stage of The Living Room, with eight of the nine people who had played in the band at one time or another all on stage. It was a wonderful show, with the band going through songs from its two albums. The Living Room staff even let the band play a bit past its allotted time and close with a spirited cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s The Chain.
Last night’s players included Jeff Malinowski (rhythm guitar and vocals), Amal Bouhabib (vocals and tambourine), John Durgee (drums and vocals), James Preston (bass and vocals), Patrick Hay (guitar) and Phil Sterk (pedal steel guitar); unfortunately, I’ve left out the folks on piano and on the B3 organ.
